Matching VESA holes and staying below an arm’s maximum weight are only the first checks. A light monitor can fall below a counterbalanced arm’s minimum load; a deep curved screen can put different demands on its tilt pivot; and a compatible screen still needs a suitable desk mounting point. Choose the adjustment mechanism around how often you move the display, then check the exact screen and desk.

Start with the screen without its stand
Find the exact monitor model and its weight without the removable stand. Shipping weight and weight with the stand are different figures. Then check the mounting pattern, screen depth and the monitor maker’s instructions for removing the stand and attaching a VESA mount. A recessed attachment area may need the specified adapter or spacers even when the hole spacing matches.
The VIVO and LX documents show 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm mounting patterns. Those numbers describe the spacing between attachment holes, not the size of the screen or a guarantee that every mounting plate will clear its rear housing. Use the screw lengths and any adapters required by the exact monitor and mount; do not infer them from the VESA label.
Minimum load matters particularly when choosing a counterbalanced arm. For example, a 6 lb monitor falls below the LX’s documented 7 lb minimum, even though it is comfortably below its 25 lb maximum. The HX HD’s higher capacity does not make it a better version of the LX for that light screen. Select a mount rated for the actual load instead of improvising extra weight.
VIVO STAND-V001: choose it when height changes are occasional
The black STAND-V001 uses a vertical pole. Its manual shows the arm’s height being secured with a 5 mm Allen key; tilt adjustment also involves loosening, positioning and tightening. That makes it a candidate for a workstation you set up and largely leave at one height. It is a poor match for someone expecting to lift and lower the monitor freely throughout the day.
VIVO lists a maximum load of 22 lb and a size envelope of 13–32 inches for standard screens, or up to 38 inches for ultrawides. Stay within the relevant limits together. A light but unusually large display is not automatically covered just because it weighs less than 22 lb.
Check the tabletop before choosing the clamp. The product page specifies a maximum thickness of 3.25 inches; the series manual’s diagram spans 10–85 mm. For this purchase, use the stricter 3.25-inch maximum and ask VIVO about a desk near a boundary rather than assuming the larger figure applies. The manual also shows a grommet mounting option for a suitable hole. That is a different installation route, not permission to drill any desk.
VIVO’s instructions require keeping the monitor over the desktop rather than extending it past the edge. Plan the clamp location around the final screen position, including its movement, before buying.

Ergotron LX: choose it for frequent movement, within its load envelope
The matte-black LX in this comparison is 45-241-224, not an LX Pro or a different arm with a similar name. Its counterbalanced lift is the more suitable mechanism here for frequent height changes. The dimensional document specifies a 7–25 lb load range and 13 inches of vertical lift, subject to the load-dependent restriction below.
Above 20 lb, the lowest part of the vertical range can be reduced by up to 4.5 inches. If your aim is to lower a heavy display close to the desk, this limitation can change the buying decision even though the monitor is still below the maximum weight. Do not treat the headline lift figure as an unrestricted range at every load.
Depth is the other important qualification. Ergotron states that monitors deeper than 2.5 inches / 64 mm may reduce capacity and directs buyers to ask for more information. A deep curved screen under 25 lb is therefore not a confirmed fit from weight alone. Get confirmation for the exact monitor before ordering in that case.
The LX drawing shows a desk clamp with different positions for different tabletop thicknesses, topping out at 2.4 inches / 60 mm. Check the current installation instructions for the supplied clamp and your desk edge, especially near the ends of the illustrated ranges. The drawing is useful for planning space; it does not establish that the desk material can support the assembly.

Ergotron HX with HD Pivot: a specialized match for deep ultrawides
The complete matte-black package 45-647-224 includes the HX arm and heavy-duty tilt pivot, plus its extension, desk clamp, grommet mount and mounting hardware. This is different from buying the HD pivot accessory by itself. If you do not already have the appropriate arm, an accessory-only listing does not provide the complete mounting system.
Ergotron’s HX HD document describes ultrawide 1000R curved displays that are 6–12 inches deep and weigh 28–42 lb. These combined conditions explain why this model belongs in a different category from the LX. Screen diagonal is only an approximation: two 49-inch displays can differ in weight, depth and mounting requirements.
Choose this route only after matching the exact monitor to the complete arm and HD pivot configuration. A screen below the documented minimum load, or a different depth and curvature, needs a separate compatibility confirmation. Do not assume “HX,” “HD,” or “49-inch compatible” in a retailer title settles the question.
The published movement figures include 11.5 inches of lift and tilt of 15 degrees upward and 5 degrees downward. If you need a pronounced downward angle, that tilt limit matters as much as the load rating. Check the installation instructions for the selected clamp or grommet route before ordering; neither the arm’s load rating nor its screen compatibility establishes the strength of your desk.

Measure the mounting point, not just the tabletop
A clamp needs clearance beneath the desk as well as a suitable top surface. Inspect the intended spot for an apron, cable tray, drawers, a beveled edge or other obstructions. Confirm the desk maker permits the mounting method and load at that location. If that information is unavailable, keeping the original stand is the sensible interim choice.
Think through the screen’s whole path. Will the arm have room to fold near the wall? Will the monitor remain over the desk where the instructions require it? Will its cables reach the raised, lowered and rotated positions without being pulled tight? A maximum extension figure does not answer all three questions.
Before you order
- Record the exact screen: model, weight without stand, depth, VESA pattern and required adapter.
- Choose the adjustment style: occasional tool-assisted height changes, frequent counterbalanced movement, or a specialized deep-screen arm.
- Check both ends of the load range: minimum and maximum, including depth and movement restrictions.
- Match the installation: desk material, edge clearance, thickness and the supplied clamp or grommet hardware.
- Verify the offer: STAND-V001 black, LX 45-241-224 or complete HX HD 45-647-224. Similar names and accessory listings are not interchangeable.
For a screen you rarely move, start with the VIVO’s simpler adjustment arrangement. For repeated height changes within the documented limits, consider the LX. Reserve the HX HD for the heavy, deep curved-screen use case it is designed to handle. If your existing stand already solves the positioning problem, there is no need to replace it merely to add an arm.
